Square Foot Gardening

Frugal Dad has a great tutorial on Square Foot Gardening: How to Build a Square Foot Garden

I would like to point out that you can use anything for your bed... old trash picked waterbed frame, cinder blocks, wood from an old pallet, other scrap wood (old table top, for example)...

I highly recommend the book Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew. My copy is at least 10 years old, and I am re-reading it this month to prepare for planting my earthboxes.

Even if you don't have the space or inclination for square foot gardening, the information in the back of the book about when to start your seeds is worth reading.

That is so cool!

I wish I had the space to have a garden like that. Right now I am stuck with Earthboxes.

Did your garden produce the way the book promises?

YES!! We had so much produce that year, we had to can most of it!

I don't own a house right now, so we're not doing a garden this year. We'll see where we are next year, maybe I'll do the earth boxes!

If you end up doing Earthboxes, let me know. I have plans for the homemade ones that we made last year.
